With her third child on the way, our middle daughter asked for a set of bunk beds for the two boys. After looking at several options and plans, we chose to go with a featured plan from the April, 1985 issue of Woodsmith magazine. A few years ago, for Father’s Day, my daughters bought the entire 35 year history of Woodsmith magazine on digital library. This makes is quick and easy to find plans for almost any project I’m looking for.
Working 1 full weekend and every evening for a week, this project took about 50 hours to complete. The material is solid red oak, with a coat of Minwax Red Mahogany stain. The protective coating is two layers of Old Masters polyurethane with a fine sanding between coats.
