This transitional crib was built with and for a friend who just welcomed his fourth child. It was his first experience in woodworking.
For this project, we adapted the original style created by Lumberjock Jeff Wenz. In our model, we forewent the signature arched headboard for a more traditional look.
The crib is solid oak, with a dark walnut stain and four coats of polyurethane. This project took approximately 40 labor hours, with much of the time spent in teaching woodworking tools and skills.
The scissor mechanism for raising and lowering the mattress was also hand-crafted in the shop. All hardware materials and turned feet are standard stock and available at Lowe’s. The mattress frame is very reasonably priced and available at www.productsamerica.com.
